Installing Mac OS X 10.6 & 10.7 on a Built PC
Yes, it is Possible for you to install Mac OS X 10.6. Well known as Snow leopard on a PC. Â It is not as easy as 1,2,3. There are several steps thatÂ
have to be taken under consideration in order for it work; and not in all cases will work properly. It is best or recommended to do it with Intel
Processors- Apple “Steve Jobs” has made it hard enough already to make all components to be compatible only with this type of processors
even with motherboards, Since Mac OS X uses a different infrastructural or system instead of BIOS. It is also possible to do it with AMD
processor, personally haven’t done it myself but you are more than welcome to try.
I’m not saying is not impossible but it is best recommended on Intel processors. As far video cards… Well personally- please do your research.Â
There are several Video cards that are compatible. In my case, I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 ti, in which is only compatible with
Lion OS 10.7. I will explain in details. Also follow the links for more information on links, articles and even video tutorials.
- Latest AMD Â Xeon processors
- Core i4 – i5 – i7
- Core 2 Duo is not the same as Cor Duo: Keep in mind that Core 2 Duo is a newer process and is also supported for Mac OS X 10.6 and  10.7
- 2GB of RAM
- MAC OS X 10.6 — the 10.6.6 is needed after the OS is installed ( Follow tutorials for more info)
- Video cards are best if you are using Quad
- Any Motherboard will do until is prove other wise
I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 ti - Unfortunately is not fully compatible with Snow leopard. I have tried numerous times to get this done,ÂI even tried to install 10.6 Server. I do get decent quality picture but…. That’s not the point. At-least on my side it has not been possible for theOS  to recognized my Video card. Please do your research before purchasing you Video Card. Please follow the link below, it is constantlyupdating and adding new supported video cards to the forum. Please click on the link and see comments from previous users. At this point the GTX 550 ti- is only compatible with Lion- Getting the retail OS is kinda hard since they only want you to upgrade right from theÂiTunes store.Â
- The upgrade Lion 10.7 wont work to this process
- Installing 10.6 and then upgrading to 10.7- Â WILL NOT WORK!
- Downloading the drives from the website will not work either, i have people ask me this…. please it wont work.
